OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD students in Obstetrics and Gynecology is a document that defines the content of training and sets the requirements for the scope and level of professional competencies of PhD candidates in Health Care in specialty: 14.01.01 “Obstetrics and Gynecology”.
The subject of study in Obstetrics and Gynecology is aimed at assimilating the theoretical information and practical training on etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis (including differential), treatment and prevention of major obstetric and gynecological diseases, related pathologies, the formation of medical judgment, ethical attitude to the patient, which will allow improving general professional, specialized professional, research, analytical competencies in obstetrics and gynecology in order to achieve the level of knowledge and skills in accordance with the qualification requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 14.01.01 “Obstetrics and Gynecology”.
The Academic Curriculum determines the duration of training, the distribution of hours assigned for the sections of the curriculum.
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD students in Obstetrics and Gynecology is designed for 12 credits i.e. 360 hours (1 credit is 30 hours).
The Program includes lectures, seminars, practical sessions, as well as individual work of PhD students.
To determine the level of competencies of PhD students, midpoint assessment after each section of the Program is carried out from the hours assigned for seminars.
INTERNAL DISEASES
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD students in Internal Diseases is a document that defines the content of training and sets the requirements for the scope and level of professional competencies of PhD candidates in Health Care.
The subject of study in Internal Diseases is aimed at training of academic staff taking into account the requirements of educational qualifications of a specialist in Internal Diseases.
This aim involves the formation of the ability to solve complex problems in professional medical activities, in particular in therapy, to conduct original research and carry out research and innovation activity in health care on major aspects of therapy based on fundamental rethinking of existing and the creation of new holistic theoretical or practical knowledge and/or professional practice.
The content of the Curriculum covers the full range of theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for a general practitioner to perform original research, obtain new facts and implement them in medicine. The Program is built on a system of blocks. To facilitate orientation in the Program and organize the information contained in it, the relevant components (courses and sections) are coded.
The Academic Curriculum determines the duration of training, the distribution of hours assigned for the sections of the curriculum.
The Program includes lectures, seminars, practical sessions, as well as individual work of PhD students. Theoretical training involves not only attending lectures, practical sessions and seminars, but also individual work with recommended literature and other materials, in particular some international legal standards, provisions of current legislation of Ukraine, guidelines, modern sources in medical research, as well as organization and creation of oral and written presentations of the research on major aspects of internal medicine in the Ukrainian language and registration of intellectual property rights.
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD students in Internal Diseases is designed for 12 credits (360 hours), which include educational, scientific and practical components, covering all the necessary scope of professional competencies to be formed in PhD students as a result of the study of this discipline.
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program takes into account the current challenges on improving the overall quality of the educational process in the system of postgraduate medical education, in particular:
- expanding opportunities for PhD students to access quality professional education;
- taking into account the individual needs and capabilities of PhD students in the process of training;
- acquiring the skills of individual work;
- increasing the efficiency of training by using modern information and communication tools.
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program is supplemented by a list of competencies to be developed by PhD students based on the results of the study of this discipline, a list of recommended normative legal documents and other sources.

To control the individual work of PhD students and meet the requirements for the scientific component of training of PhD candidates, the Academic Curriculum and Training Program provides the implementation of individual projects (abstracts, reviews of sources, multimedia and other presentations, etc.) with further monitoring of their performance. The Program includes the final test (2 hours) to check learners’ achievement.
DENTISTRY
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD students in Dentistry is a document that defines the content of training and sets the requirements for the scope and level of professional competencies of PhD candidates in Health Care in specialty: 14.01.22 “Dentistry”.
The subject of study in Dentistry is aimed at assimilating the theoretical information and practical training on etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis (including differential), treatment and prevention of major dental diseases, the formation of medical judgment, ethical attitude to the patient, which will allow improving general professional, specialized professional, research, analytical competencies in dentistry in order to achieve the level of knowledge and skills in accordance with the qualification requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 14.01.22 “Dentistry”.

SURGERY
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD students in Surgery is a document that defines the content of training and sets the requirements for the scope and level of professional competencies of PhD candidates in Health Care in specialty: 14.01.03 “Surgery”.
The subject of study in Surgery is aimed at assimilating the theoretical information and practical training on etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis (including differential), treatment and prevention of major surgical diseases, the formation of medical judgment, ethical attitude to the patient, which will allow improving general professional, specialized professional, research, analytical competencies in surgery in order to achieve the level of knowledge and skills in accordance with the qualification requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 14.01.03 “Surgery”.

PEDIATRICS
The Academic Curriculum and Training Program for PhD candidates in Pediatrics is intended for training of full-time, evening-time and part-time PhD students for developing professional competencies in specialty 228 “Pediatrics” and is a document that defines the content of training and sets the requirements for its scope and level.
It is aimed at training of PhD candidates in accordance with the requirements of educational qualifications of a specialist in Pediatrics.
The content of the Program covers the full range of theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for a specialist in Pediatrics. It is built on a system of blocks. The main blocks are 18 pediatric courses of the Program. The course is a relatively independent part of the Program, which provides a large amount of theoretical and practical information on a particular field of pediatrics. The courses are divided into sections, each of which includes several topics, and each topic consists of separate elements. To facilitate orientation in the Program and organize the information contained in it, courses and sections are coded.
Depending on the structure and working conditions of the postgraduate education institution, some courses (for example “Special Research Methods”) can be taught at specialized departments or comprehensively i.e. at the departments where the main courses of the Program are taught.
The Program includes lectures, seminars, practical sessions, as well as individual work of PhD students. The training in accordance with the Curriculum involves the increase of the level of theoretical knowledge and the acquisition of practical skills of PhD students. Theoretical training includes mandatory attendance at lectures, active participation in seminars and practical sessions, scientific and practical, anatomical pathology conferences, etc.
The most appropriate approximate ratio of lectures, practical sessions and seminars on the specialization courses for full-time (evening-time) training is 20%-60%-20%, part-time training - 30%-30%-40%. When drawing up thematic plans at the Department of Pediatrics, it is advisable to introduce classes based on methodological approaches to integrated management of common childhood diseases. In addition, the Program involves individual work of PhD students, which can be performed: in the clinic (duty in the clinic, supervision of patients under the guidance of the head, participation in laboratory and instrumental examinations), university library, computer labs, classrooms with training models for practical exercises. If necessary, this work is carried out in accordance with a pre-arranged schedule, which guarantees the possibility of individual access of a PhD student to the necessary teaching aids.
To determine the level of knowledge and skills of PhD students, midpoint assessment after each section of the Program is carried out from the hours assigned for seminars. The attestation computer test program approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is used for the final exam.
At the end of the Program there is a list of practical skills that a doctor must master during training in accordance with specialized professional competencies in Pediatrics, and a list of recommended literature.
