On May 24-25, 2019, the 19th master-course "Aesthetic Aspects of Contemporary Treatment of Venous Disease" of the Baltic Society of Phlebology took place in Riga (Latvia), which is held for specialists who are engaged in non-invasive Surgery of varicose veins of the lower limbs and its complications (surgeons, vascular surgeons and phlebologists).

At this European workshop Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education was represented by a delegate of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery (head of the department - Savoliuk S. (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor)), curator of the programmatic cycle of thematic improvement "Modern Minimal Invasive Techniques in Phlebology" -  Khodos V (MD, Dr.Sc., Associate professor).

The program of the 2-day practical-oriented master course consisted of both a theoretical and practical part (work in the operating room), covering the entire spectrum of modern low-invasive veins surgery, namely the use of technology for endovenous and transdermal laser coagulation, micro and mini-phlebectomy , the modern possibilities of sclerotherapy to achieve high aesthetic results of varicose veins of the lower extremities surgery in both the early and postoperative terms.

The new knowledge, experience and current world-wide recommendations and trends will be taken into account when writing new curricula and preparing for publication a monograph on the basics of modern non-invasive phlebology, which is currently being prepared by a team of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery under the guidance of the Head of the Department Savoliuk S.(MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor).
