On November 29, 2019 at the E. O. Paton Electric Welding Institute was held 14th Scientific-Practical Conference "Electrowelding and Connection of Living Tissues: Theory, Practice, Perspectives".

For the 5th year in a row, the conference was attended by the staff of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education headed by the chief of the department Prof. Savoliuk S.

Among the scientific priorities and scientific directions of the department there is the expansion of the range of application of biowelding technology in surgery, in particular, minimally invasive - endoscopic, laparoscopic surgery and aesthetic phlebology.

This year's departmental report - Endovenous Electric Welding in the Treatment of Varicose Diseases of the Lower Limbs and Its Complications - is the result of the scientific and practical development of the staff of the department (Prof. Savoliuk S., Prof. Hodos V., Gorbovets V. and postgraduate students Gerashchenko R., Glagoleva A., Dembitsky A.) in the field of minimally invasive phlebology (the use of manual and automatic modes of endovenous biowelding surgery of lower extremities varicose veins).

The 20-minute report, presented by Dembitsky A., developed into an interesting scientific discussion with the involvement of leading experts in the field of both theoretical and practical application of biowelding technology, provoking interest among the audience and other speakers. At present, all scientific and practical departmental developments concerning the implementation of biowelding technology have been implemented in the program of practically oriented cycles of thematic improvement, which the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery will carry out in 2020 - "Program of enhanced recovery after abdominal surgery", "Laparoscopy" , "Application of the method of biowelding in surgery", "Endovenous electric welding in surgery of varicose veins and its complications", "Laparoscopic surgery of obesity and metabolic syndrome", "Laparoscopic technologies in routine surgery", "Minimally invasive techniques in phlebology", "Laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of abdominal hernias".
