The Department of Foreign Languages reports on the intermediate research results, obtained together with the Department of Neurology No. 2, NMAPE. For the four consecutive years now the two departments have been focusing on studying the professional aspects of using special terminology and its translation equivalents for building doctors' competence (based on the specialty of neurology).

The urgency of the problem requires dealing with: 1) the importance of international scientific information exchange that determines the search for adequate equivalents of professional terms in translation; 2) the necessity to unify test and classification documents; 3) the need to improve healthcare workers’ bilingual potential that is the basis for deepening their language proficiency level.

The obtained results are quite new as for the first time in Ukraine we are studying professional aspects of using special terminology and the translation equivalents in building doctors’ competencies by improving and developing the neurolinguistics ones. The intermediate research results make it possible to shape the most promising areas of theoretical reflection and the practical filling of the linguistic and medical multi-approach cluster, primarily developing in doctors’ vocabulary, translation and psycholinguistic scope.

Acquiring new data and improving the existing technologies for disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention, developing draft regulatory documents, guidelines are expected.
