For the second consecutive year, the Neonatology Department holds a scientific and practical conference dedicated to the multidisciplinary approach in neonatology inviting obstetricians, paediatricians, prenatal diagnostics specialists, and neonatologists.

This year, this extraordinary event “Clinical Cases in Neonatology: A Multidisciplinary Approach” was held on May 29 as an online conference connecting people from different cities and countries.

Head of Neonatology Department of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Yelyzaveta Shunko opened the conference by covering clinical issues in neonatology in modern conditions and the specifics of decision-making for the best prognosis of children’s development.

Dean of the Paediatric Faculty of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Professor Maryna Mamenko presented the key issue of outpatient care for newborns and children during the first year of life in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Associate Professor Olena Kostiuk, who is currently doing a research programme at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, shared her experience of using donor breast milk in a Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Olena Susidko from Dnipro presented a report on the importance of interaction with prenatal diagnostics specialists and showed a film about the achievements in fetal surgery in Ukraine.

Head of “Early Birds” Association of Parents of Premature Babies presented her project on online parental support in order to facilitate the work of the doctors.

Powered by online education technologies, a multidisciplinary team of specialists could share their experience with doctors from different regions of Ukraine.
