The first online conference of the Association of Anesthesiologists of Kyiv took place in Ukraine on April the 30’s. It was dedicated to the current state and problems of solid organ transplantation. The conference was organized by the Association of Anesthesiologists of Kyiv, the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine (Head of the Department — Professor  A. Bilyaev) and the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology.

Leading specialists of the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology — surgeons, anesthesiologists and intensive care specialists took an active part in the conference. Congratulations and wishes to the participants of the conference were expressed by the director of Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology O. Usenko — Corresponding Member of NAMS of Ukraine.

The presented reports highlighted the features of anaesthesia, intensive care and surgical tactics for kidney and liver transplantation in different age groups in children and adults, including living family donors. The participants of the conference were very interested in the report of Professor A. Mazur. He focused on the general practical aspects of organ transplantation. The reports of the leading transplantologists of the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology — heads of surgical departments were meaningful and informative. Many reports were made by graduate students of the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, who covered the issues of anesthesiology of family transplantation of liver and kidney in children under 16 years and preparation for such transplantation of donors and recipients. 

Each report emphasized the importance of joint teamwork of surgeons and anesthesiologists as a guarantee of successful transplantation. The clinical case of pre-transplant preparation of a patient with hepatic insufficiency (National child's clinical hospital OHMATDYT) with subsequent liver transplantation to this patient in the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology was demonstrated as an example of integration of medical institutions. Particular attention was paid to the legal basis for the diagnosis of brain death and the peculiarities of the diagnosis of brain death in children following the latest orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
