In recent years, the COVID-19 epidemic and quarantine restrictions have become a challenge for teachers of all specialties and education levels.

So, the final exam of anesthesiologists was not an exception. During 2019—2021, 62 interns (supervisor Associate Professor Dmytro Dzyuba) studied at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.

Taking into account the need for a high level of knowledge of future anesthesiologists and intensive care doctors, the department decided at the meeting that the assessment of theoretical knowledge, especially in the context of a pandemic, should be comprehensive and as objective as possible. Therefore, it was decided to conduct the final exam within three days. It should be noted that all interns of the department were admitted to the exam because they passed the KROK-3 license exam. For each of the exam days, three separate commissions were formed to reduce the teacher's burden and comply with anti-epidemic measures. The time allotted for preparing and responding to each intern was at least 15—20 minutes. The chairman of the commission was the head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Professor Oleg Loskutov.

The results of the exams showed that distance learning did not dramatically affect the final level of theoretical knowledge of future doctors. According to the five-point system, the average score was 4.27 points, and the number of excellent grades was 26, which accounted for 41.9% of all interns who passed the certification.

The final score for the internship consisted of a score for the theoretical and practical components of the final exam, in addition, the current level of knowledge of future doctors and their implementation of the curriculum were also taken into account, which were reflected in the grades for intermediate tests.

All interns trained at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine in 2019—2021 received a positive final score, which is evidence of the level of professionalism and responsibility of future doctors.

The staff of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care wishes success to future anesthesiologists and intensive care doctors in their hard work!
