The Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care has started a series of practical classes with interns-anesthesiologists of the first year.

These classes were held with a simulation of practical tasks that interns performed on mannequins. This method of training was chosen by the Department according to modern approaches to medical interns training.

So, according to research by foreign authors, "...training using a virtual reality simulator has an advantage over theoretical training alone." In addition, the simulation allows students to acquire skills in a "safe environment" while avoiding harm to patients.

Another feature of the practical simulation was the involvement of PhD students of the Department. PhD student of the Department Taisiya Danchina conducted a practical lesson on spirometry, where interns of the first year were introduced to the latest equipment for performing spirometry, theoretical foundations, and methods used for this. Practical approaches to performing artificial ventilation were also considered, depending on the specific spirometry data.

PhD student Volodymyr Kolesnykov demonstrated to young colleagues innovative methods of mechanical ventilation, which is an urgent problem in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Head of the Department, Professor Oleg Loskutov, demonstrated the project of a new simulation computer program developed by the Department.

All classes were held taking into account anti-epidemic measures in small groups.

The classes aroused great interest among young doctors who are preparing to become anesthesiologists.
