An important and grandiose event took place in the life of the oncological community of Ukraine: in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Cancer Institute at the NSC "Olympic" in September 30 to October 2, 2021 the "XIV Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of Ukraine" was held.

More than 160 reports were presented at the congress, 25 of which were in English by residents of the United States, Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Israel, the Netherlands and other countries.

Interns of the Department of Oncology, studying in the specialty "Clinical Oncology", had the opportunity for three full days to take part in the sections that represented all subspecialities of multidisciplinary oncology. They have got acquainted with modern views on the prevention of malignant neoplasms, early diagnosis, modern algorithms for diagnosis and treatment, which are based on the  evidence-based medicine. The participants of the Congress have paid special attention to the achievements, obtained in the study of the tumor biology, its molecular genetic characteristics, which, of course, constitute the basis for prescription appointment of targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

For young oncologists of Ukraine a special section was held in the CITIUS hall, where the following issues were discussed: international internship; promising clinical trials in Ukraine; algorithm for writing of first article in the international journal; opportunities for professional development of a doctor in the modern world and etc.

Events of such a scale as the Congress of Oncologists are extremely important at the stage of formation of a competent oncologist: they summarize the perspectives modern achievements of development of oncology as a whole and its components, outline the promising areas of research, based on achievements of the evidence-based medicine. sources of obtaining modern reliable information about the trends in theoretical and practical oncology, and medicine in general.
