The department was founded in 1988. Its first name was the Department of Children’s Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation, later on – the Department of Children’s Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. Since its foundation till October, 2012 the department had been headed by Hennadii Ivanovych Belebeziiev, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Full Professor, Chief Paediatric Anaesthesiologist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Honoured Physician of Ukraine. At present the department is headed by Andrii Viktorovych Biliaiev, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Full Professor.
