On June 24-25, 2023, the "Polytrauma Surgical Skills for Management of War Trauma" training was held by MedGlobal Ukraine with the support of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.

The team of American doctors, consisting of surgeons Michael Samotovka, Juda Slavkovsky, and orthopedic surgeon Hudson Berry, shared their knowledge and experience of treating combat injuries with Ukrainian colleagues for two days.

This training was attended by the staff of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine and its students, namely: head of the department professor Savoliuk S., assistant of the department PhD Zavertylenko D., postgraduate student of the department Dembitskyi A., surgeon of the Department of Surgery No. 2 KMKL 8 Lypnytskyi V., interns Hrytsenko A.V. and Merzeskul J.S.

The first day of the training was held in the simulation center of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. The first part was in the form of lectures devoted to polytrauma surgery, aspects of ballistic impact, explosive injuries, international protocols treatment of military trauma. In addition to detailed, modern and applicative theoretical material, the participants had the opportunity to learn practical skills on the first day. In the afternoon, the training focused on mastering the practical use of portable ultrasound diagnostic devices due to the FAST (focused assessment with sonography in trauma) and eFAST (extended) programs.

The second day of the training focused entirely on the practical mastering of the material. Together with the teachers, the participants of the training practiced surgical techniques in the conditions of Vetlab at the experimental department of Shalimov's National Institute of Surgery and Transplantation. During an extremely busy day, surgical methods and tactics for injuries of almost any organ were worked out - injuries to the heart, main vessels, lungs, organs of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, limbs.
The unique experience of our American colleagues, the analysis of modern guidelines, the practical orientation of the classes and the high level of organization undoubtedly make this training necessary for all surgeons.
