The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine from 06.11 to 20.11.2024 held an on-site cycle of thematic improvement "Current issues of obstetrics and gynecology from the position of evidence-based medicine" in the city of Nizhyn.

The classes were held in a blended learning format, both online and directly in the Nizhyn city maternity hospital. The head of the department, Professor Golyanovsky O.V., Professor Romanenko T.G. and curator, associate professor Morozova O.V. and teachers of the department took part in the educational process. From the position of evidence-based medicine and on the basis of the implementation of the most effective perinatal technologies, modern approaches to rational management of pregnancy and childbirth were considered. Lectures, seminars and classes in the maternity hospital were held with the development of practical skills in childbirth, prevention of obstetric bleeding, thromboembolic complications and postpartum purulent-inflammatory diseases. Modern aspects of the therapy of massive obstetric bleeding according to the DCR (Damage Control Resuscitation) concept were also considered.

In addition to lectures, practical classes were held, including in the operating room. Special attention was paid to the role of hemostatic agents and modern approaches to blood component transfusion, as well as algorithms for interdisciplinary interaction. Modern methods of diagnosing isthmocele, including ultrasound and hysteroscopic methods, and ways to prevent pregnancy in a scar after cesarean section were considered. The importance of pregnancy planning and choosing the optimal method of delivery for patients with a uterine scar were discussed, as well as preventive measures aimed at reducing the risk of isthmocele formation.

 

The issues of modern approaches to the management of gynecological pathology, such as endometrial hyperplasia, ovarian cysts and other disorders, in accordance with international clinical protocols, were considered. In particular, the latest diagnostic methods were discussed, including ultrasound with Doppler, hysteroscopy and markers of oncogynecological risk. as well as methods of surgical treatment - laparoscopy, hysteroresectoscopy and minimally invasive interventions.

A clinical analysis of cases was conducted with a detailed analysis of diagnostics and treatment, which allowed the participants to improve their decision-making skills in complex clinical situations. The lecturers of the department focused the attention of the students on the prognostic and preventive approach in order to minimize possible complications of pregnancy, childbirth and gynecological pathology.

All the students of the cycle expressed their gratitude for providing modern theoretical and practical developments regarding modern approaches to the management of childbirth.
