On the first Saturday of December, the Cardiology Department of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine held elective training focused on pressing issues in modern medicine. The event was a significant highlight for family physicians, internists, cardiologists, nephrologists, and pulmonologists, as it delved into the latest approaches to diagnosis and treatment.

The event began with a practical case discussion led by prof. Maryna Dolzhenko, MD, head of the cardiology department at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, and prof. Stella Kushnirenko, MD, Head of the nephrology and renal replacement therapy department at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. They answered the question: Why are early screening and timely treatment of CKD in patients with mellitus diabetes type 2 crucial for cardiologists and nephrologists?

Prof. Mykola Ostrovskyi, MD, head of the department of phthisiology and pulmonology with a course in occupational diseases at IFNMU, dedicated his presentation to the effectiveness of anticholinergics in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and their impact on improving patients' quality of life.

An interesting master class was held by Iryna Davydova, PhD in medicine, titled “What masks can dyspnea wear?”, demonstrated a comprehensive algorithm for managing patients with chronic dyspnea.

The primary predictors of atrial fibrillation were discussed in a lecture by prof. Mykhailo Sorokivskyi, MD, head of the radiology department at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University.

The event concluded with a lively discussion between Prof. Marina Dolzhenko and Tetiana Simagina, PhD, lecturer from the cardiology department at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, on stroke prevention in patients with heart valve disease. The speakers reviewed contemporary guidelines and illustrated their application with a real clinical case.

Noteworthy was the active participation of the audience throughout the event, with engaging questions that enriched the discussion.
