The team of authors of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care of NMAPE named after PL Shupyk (OA Loskutov, MV Bondar, YuI Markov, MV Bolyuk, RA Efimenko) have published the book "Pages of the history of anesthesiology in Ukraine".
The publication presents different periods of the history of anesthesiology in Ukraine - since the time of MI Pirogov, VO Karavaev and TL Vanzetti till present time. The biographical data of the first Ukrainian anesthetists with indication of the contribution that they have made to the treasury of domestic medicine are presented. The role of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Academy in the formation of profile specialty in Ukraine is emphasized.
The edition is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after PL Shupyk. People have created the history of the Academy and they do so even in our times. Among them are well-known doctors and scientists: ММ Amosov, AI Trishchynskiy and others who have made a significant contribution to the development of domestic anesthesiology as a specialty and science. In turn, the progress of the latter is an indispensable condition for the development of medicine, especially in such high-tech areas as thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, and others. The history of anesthesiology in Ukraine is inextricably linked with the creation, formation and achievements of the Academy. Therefore, the main task of this monograph was to acquaint readers with the most striking pages of the history of anesthesiology in Ukraine and to highlight the role of pioneers in the development of this discipline.
In preparation of the publication materials from the National Scientific Medical Library of Ukraine (Kyiv), the National Museum of History of Medicine (Kyiv), the National Museum-Estate MI Pirogov (Vinnytsya) were used.
The book is intended for the general public of the medical community, first of all, doctors-anesthesiologists and everyone who is interested in the history of Ukrainian medicine.
