On December 11, 2018, Graham McMahon, the President and Executive Director of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), visited NMAPE.

Graham McMahon has wide experience in teaching, practical and administrative work in medicine. He taught at the Harvard Medical School, educational institutions of Boston. He worked as an executive editor of educational programs in the New England Journal of Medicine. Since April 2015, he has been the head of the ACCME and continues his advisory work at Chicago University Hospitals.

At the premises of the Academy, there were meetings with organizers of postgraduate medical education and interns. Graham McMahon shared information on the general system, the basic principles and standards of continuing medical education in the United States, which is considered to be the most complete in the world.

The President and Executive Director also introduced the students to the main areas of activity of the ACCME. The organization accredits institutions of continuing medical education both in the United States and throughout the world.

The lecturer also presented information about the basic requirements for accreditation according to the ACCME standards. He emphasized that high standards contribute to positive changes, development of medical education and science.

It is of great importance that ACCME is open to communication, supports institutions of continuing medical education to achieve the world standards. We can't fail to agree with the lecturer that the implementation of these high demands in practice inspires and motivates institutions to reveal their full potential in order to improve the quality of continuing medical education. Qualitative continuous medical education, in turn, is an integral part of managing the quality of medical care as a whole.

We really appreciate the unique opportunity to get an invaluable positive experience.
