In December 2018 a Docent of Cathedra of Oncology Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education has visited The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, Tx, USA) as a viewer through one week.

This is one of the best and biggest oncological centers in USA, equipped in accordance to the up-to-date high technology standards. Visitor-specialist right from the acquaintance beginning may estimate a structure and function exclusiveness of the project. More detailed view may discover its organizational perfection, and the modern management optimality. All main activities trends, diagnosis and treatment, scientific, educational, are integrated here in effective manner. The Center Departments are equipped by all necessary apparatuses and instruments of the expert class, the personnel work organization is strictly regulated, as well attendance and admittance of visitors and patients, accordingly. In the clinics of the Center 600 patients can simultaneously receive a help. Clinical Departments are filled with the patients satisfactory. The patients from all over the world, including those from Ukraine, are diagnosed and treated here. The patients with all oncological forms and stages are managed in the Center. Clinical Departments have deep specialization, including chemotherapeutic. The duty personnel load on a physician is less than in our clinics, but not for interns and residents. The level of the clinical rounds conduction, as well as consiliums is very high, the clinical case discussion may last through an hour, are always quite multidisciplinary, and conducted even in a distant way.

During the flooding in August 2017, the clinic did not stop working for a minute. The staff of the clinic lived in a hospital, but food for patients and medical measures were carried out according to the plan.

The Center has a wide-spread global scientific and educational cooperation with the universities clinics of many countries, especially Latin American. Such activity is especially fruitful in the RCTs activities. Foreign listeners of a post-graduate level are accepted to residency, and on various improvement courses due to wide spectrum of actual up-to-date educational programs implemented for many oncological subspecialties. The under-graduate medical education is provided here as well. The educational programs and the process for listeners, interns and residents are quite complete and detailed. The household environment for them in the Center campuses are quite satisfactory. Best listeners and residents may have a chance to apply successfully for employment in the Center. 

Scientific Department of the Center is proud having in the squad the Nobel Prize winner in 2018 Jim Allison. The Center is working on a vast raw of RCTs, including the Phase I studies.

Conventionally tremendous expenses on examination and treatment for majority of the patients are covered by various insurance sources. The Center funding for all kinds of activity is provided by private sponsorship, individual and institutional. Non small part of it is delivered by the Center alumni. These financial practices in USA are widespread and supported a lot by a common society.

Systemic introduction of the Center experience in our environment meets certain difficulties till reformation of the domestic health care branch is not accomplished yet. Never the less, implementation of some elements of this sophisticated comprehensive network may be on time in the conventional work of the Academy administration, our cathedras and their clinical bases.
