Under the chairmanship of the head of the department, professor Loskutov OA On January 28, 2019, an extended session of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care was held, among which the question of summing up the work of the department staff during the past year was discussed.

The successful activity of the department in several areas was stated. Thus, the educational work covered four pre-certification cycles and the same number of thematic improvement courses, one cycle of internship and training of anesthetists according to an individual plan (260 people in total).

Also, the department trained 197 residents of first and second years of study.

Last year, the teachers of the department have read 280 lectures devoted to various actual problems of anesthesiology and intensive care.

At the Department, within the framework of scientific forums (including international ones), 56 master classes in anesthesiology and intensive care were conducted.


The first year residents team participated in the 5th International Medical Simulation Olympiad in Krakow (Poland). In 2018, the staff of the department participated with the reports in the international educational program CEEA (Kyiv) and the European Congress "Euroanesthesia - 2018" EAS (Copenhagen, Denmark), in the Congress of the World Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (Ljubljana, Slovenia), the European Intensive Care Congress (ESICM LIVES) in Paris (France), an interdisciplinary workshop on "Thrombosis and bleeding: evidence-based medicine and multidisciplinary approach" in Kyiv.

In addition, cooperation with health care institutions was continued: the "Doctoral course" and the on-site cycle of thematic improvement of the Diagnostic and Consultative Center of Pechersk district of Kyiv, training on the basics of emergency medical aid for teachers, training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation for doctors of the medical center "Verum".

The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) has been introduced and improved for second-year residents and pre-certification students, as well as the practical skills of residents in the operating room. To assess the basic level of residents' knowledge, test assignments are used from those for graduates of American medical colleges.

In addition, account should be taken of the organization of the largest on-site Ukrainian anesthetic international forum BUS-10 with the participation of leading European and world experts (22 sectional meetings and the same number of workshops and workshops) and the scientific and practical conference "Trishchynskiy Readings" (with the participation of more than 200 domestic and foreign physicians-anesthetists) with the conduct of the "Simulation Olympiad on Emergencies" and the satellite master-course for the teachers of SimFact.

New forms of education were introduced at the department last year - simulation lectures and classes at the Center of simulation teaching methods of NMAPE named after PL Shupyk.

For the first time the European accreditation of the Association of Anaesthesiologists, perfuziologists and intensive care specialists of Ukraine was received.

In 2018, "Interpretative Dictionary of Clinical Toxicology" and "Pages of the History of Anesthesiology of Ukraine", 45 articles in journals and 34 abstracts in collections of materials of scientific and scientific-practical forums were published. A separate issue of the journal "Medicine of Emergency Conditions" was created according to the publications of the authors who are members of the department.

One dissertation work for obtaining a scientific degree of doctor of medicine (Galushko OA) was approved at the department. During the year 13 postgraduate students and 19 clinical residents were trained at the department.

One patent for a utility model is obtained. The award for the first place in the competition of scientific reports of young scientists (within the framework of the Congress of Anaesthesiologists of Ukraine).

The medical work consisted of the implementation of 586 cures of patients, 3490 consultations and 4265 anesthesias (a total of 8341 patients).

These indicators of work allowed the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care to reach the rating positions among the departments of NMAPO named after PL Shupyk and the performance of the department speaks about the great potential of teachers, which will be realized in a more extensive volume in 2019.
