On April 17-20, 2019, the British-Ukrainian Symposium (BUS-11) on anesthesiology and intensive care "Innovative Technologies and Techniques in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care" was held on the basis of the Feofaniya Clinical Hospital. Traditionally, the forum was preceded by a "refreshing" course of lectures (three sessions) by leading domestic and foreign anaesthesiologists.

At the opening of the symposium, the vice-chancellor for scientific and pedagogical work of NMAPO named after PL Shupyk Professor O. Tolsthanov conveyed the greetings and emphasized the constant support of the project by the Chancellor of the Academy. academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Y. Voronenko. Active participation in the organization and holding of the forum was attended by the head physician of the Feofaniya Hospital I. Semeniv, the head of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care of the academy, professor O. Loskutov, president of the Ukrainian Medical Association Great Britain R. Gregg, the staff of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Academy.

A feature of this year's symposium was the wide presentation of speakers from the United States and Great Britain (6 people); two participants represented Germany and one by one - France and Turkey. The authority of the most respected guests is evidenced by the fact that most of the experts from the United States represented the Mayo Clinic, among which should be particularly distinguished John Abenstein - vice president of the American Association of Anesthetists.

In the course of communication, the educational skill of Venogopal Rady, the world-famous specialist in education in anesthetics, was instructive.

Foreign speakers held 9 workshops and master classes, 27 reports in English, accompanied by a sequential translation into Ukrainian. The program of the symposium included the following topics: development of anesthesiology in Ukraine, innovative technologies and techniques in anesthesiology and intensive care, in particular in obstetrics, oncology, cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery.

Among other events there was an open meeting of the basic department of anesthesiology to improve the teaching of anesthesiology and intensive care, in which its head prof. OA Loskutov familiarized the heads of specialized departments with innovations of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the NMAPO named after PL Shupyk in the field of improving the educational process and offered them for a wide introduction. Of great importance was the meeting of the Board of NGO "Association of Anaesthesiologists of Ukraine" and experts of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and structural subdivisions on health care of the local government authorities under the chairmanship of the expert of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the direction of "Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology" prof. SO Dubrov

The program of the symposium was traditionally rich and covered 25 sessions, during which 182 reports, 2 simulation lectures, 35 workshops and master classes were delivered, which provided 114 reputable specialists.

There were 7 halls equipped with modern audio-video equipment, which accommodated over 1300 participants.

From the operation room of  Feofaniya Hospital, an online broadcast of master classes in vascular access was held at the conference room, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions in real time and receive responses.

The forum also held an intellectual game program - anesthetic brain-ring (competition of teams of anesthesiologists from Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava and Dnipro).

The symposium was held with the assistance of Association of Anaesthesiologists, perfuziologists and intensive care physicians; Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine; The Association of Obstetric Anesthesiologists of Ukraine, the Institute of the heart of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after O.Shalimov, the Ukrainian Institute for Pain Research, the Foundation for the Promotion of Respiratory Medicine, the Ukrainian Medical Association of Great Britain, the University College London Center for Anesthesia National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery The Association of Anesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland.

At the end of the symposium there was a lively discussion on organizational issues, conclusions were made, a resolution was approved, and the planning directions for the next BUS-12 were discussed. The overwhelming majority of the forum members noted its high level of organization.
