Postgraduate Staff of the Academy took an active role in organizing and running of the international conference “Masters in Diabetes”

On May, 24-26 the traditional annual conference “Masters in Diabetes” took place in Portoroz, Slovenia. The conference was well attended by the 300 doctors from the countries of Central, Eastern Europe and Mediterranean countries.

There were more than 40 doctors from the different regions of Ukraine. The organizers of the conference were Slovenian doctors Karen Schara and Iris Marolt and the head of Department of Diabetology of P.L.Shupyk National Medical Academy for Postgraduate Education Professor Boris Mankovsky.

The important and interesting lectures were presented by the leading specialists from many countries - Professors Pournaras and Tesfaye (United Kingdom), Schernthaner (Austria) and others.

Professor Mankovsky presented the lecture “Cardiovascular outcome trials in diabetes - should we continue or change the course?”. During the conference there were 2 symposiums organized by Ukrainian Diabetology Association which included the presentations made by the doctors from the Department of Diabetology - Professor Mankovsky and Associate Professor Nadiia Zherdova.

The participants were awarded with the certificate of attendance confirming that the conference was accredited by European Union as postgraduate medical education activity. It was decided to continue to run «Masters in Diabetes” as an annual international event.
