Trends that determine the development of surgery at the present stage require the introduction of innovative non-invasive and non-traumatic surgical techniques that provide fast post-operative rehabilitation and recovery, a comfortable return to the usual lifestyle. On February 11, 2019, the improvement thematic cycle "Modern non-invasive techniques in phlebology" (2-week study program) was launched, at the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (the Chief of Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery - S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor).
The head of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor) had an introductory lecture with 14 students, focusing on the priority use of minimally invasive surgical techniques in the treatment of lower extremities varicose veins and its complications - radio frequency ablation, endovascular laser coagulation, puncture sclerotherapy and endovenous electrical biowelding technology.
Application of bioelectric welding technology in the treatment of varicose veins is the visiting card of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery (as this surgical technique was developed and introduced into the practice by the department's employees - S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor) and V. Gorbovets (MD, PhD), who in 2018 for the first time in Ukraine, defended the candidate's dissertation on the use of endovenous electric biowelding in surgical treatment of lower limbs varicose veins). This technology according to the results and efficiency is not inferior to modern surgical standards. Also technology of biowelding of tissues is Ukrainian technology, what fortifying the innovative priorities of the NMAPE and the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery.
The program of the cycle was full of practical classes, master-classes of live surgery with the participation of the staff of the department (S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor), V. Khodos (MD, Dr.Sc., Accosiate Professor) and V. Gorbovets (MD, PhD), as well as participation of the students of the thematic improvement cycle for obtaining maximum efficiency in acquiring skills in working with modern techniques in non-invasive phlebology.
