At the end of 2018, the Library of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education was updated with the textbook "Sclerotherapy of chronic diseases of the lower extremities veins".

The author's team - the Chief of Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery - S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor); V. Khodos (MD, Dr.Sc., Associate Professor), R. Gerashchenko (MD, PhD student).

The purpose of the manual is implementation of fast track recovery protocols into the modern phlebology technologies , which allows to perform surgical treatment of lower extremities varicose veins and its complications in the conditions of outpatient surgery, reducing the length of stay in a stationary bed for up to 1 day and providing high rates of postoperative quality of life of patients. The use of modern non-invasive and non-traumatic surgical techniques and technologies corresponds to the modern world surgical trends, standards and protocols.

The methodology for constructing the manual was the questions of students of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of

 Shupyk NMAPE during the thematic improvement cycles "Modern Minimal Invasive Techniques in Phlebology" and "Fundamentals and Innovations in Vascular Surgery", conducted by the Department during 2018.

Due to the availability of active feedback with students of program cycles, the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery actively and intensively works on the creation of a modern educational and methodological support for improvement cycles that are in high demand among practitioners.

Such, proactive, position of the team of Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery with regard to the introduction of modern scientific and practical innovations in the medical and educational process allows implement plan for program cycles, taking into account the peculiarities of the competition for consumer education services in the market of postgraduate education in Ukraine.
