Laparoscopic surgery at the present stage of development of clinical surgery plays a crucial role as a gold surgical standard in urgent and planned abdominal surgery.

Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, which began on February 8, 2019 is thematic improvement cycle for surgeons organised by  Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (the Chief of Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery - S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor)).

Head of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor) and the curator of the cycle V. Lysenko (MD, PhD, Associate Professor) during program lectures for 14 students, highlighted the training strategy of the cycle, linking its contents with the protocol of enhanced recovery after surgery, the incarnation of which is actively engaged in the department, having in its achievements the greatest experience in Ukraine with regard to implementation of the Fast Track Surgery protocol in urgent and planned abdominal laparoscopic surgery.

During the one-month training period, students had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in laparoscopic technologies and their manual skills on laparoscopic simulator, got acquainted with the latest innovations in the equipment and the electrosurgical tools, the features of the choice of surgical generators during the planning of the operation and the rules of work with them. Students participated in laparoscopic operations and traditional master-classes, planned by the department staff according to the curriculum. Live Surgery lessons are most popular among the audience on the analysis of questionnaires (maximum efficiency and results during practically-oriented training).
