On October 16-20 in Barcelona, Spain the Annual Meeting of European Association for the Study of Diabetes took place. This Congress is the major scientific and clinical event in the field of basic and clinical Diabetology.
This year, as usual, the Congress was attended by more than 18,000 participants from all over the world. The results of the very important clinical trials such as VERIFY, CAROLINA, CONCLUDE and others had been presented which substantially expanded our knowledge of the new approaches to the effective, safe and early treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus.
The members of Diabetology Department of P.L.Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education - the head of Department Professor B.M.Manlovsky, associated professors I.M.Kondratska, O.S.Orlyk, B.M.Zherdova took an active role in the Congress. Professor Mankovsky served as the member of the Program Committee of the Congress, member of the board for European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes Mentorship Program and chaired 2 Scientific sessions - 1 oral and 1 poster.
Moreover, before the Congress the Annual Meeting of Diabetic Neuropathy Study Group of EASD (Neurodiab) took place and was attended by around 200 experts in this field. Professor Mankovsky made an oral presentation outlining the results of the research addressing the association between cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy and cerebral blood flow disturbances in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
It has to be noted that on October, 10-12 8th Postgraduate Course of European Association for the Study of Diabetes will take place in Lviv and more than 300 participants from Ukraine and other countries had registered to participate. Professor Mankovsky will serve as the organizer of the Congress.
