On October 10-11, the annual International Conference «Neonatus 2019» was held in Warsaw, Poland. Liudmyla Tantsiura, associate professor of the department of pediatric anesthesiology and intensive care have attended the Conference.

NEONATUS is a cycle of conferences dedicated to the issues of intensive care, surgical care and rehabilitation of newborns. The purpose of the event is to convey to the practitioner the latest achievements in the care of newborns, supported by evidence-based medicine, with the focus on the results of recent clinical trials relevant to neonatal intensive care.

The Conference had fixed sessions: postgraduate education, news, reports of the latest researches, diagnostics and treatment, workshops. The event is addressed to neonatologists, pediatric anesthesiologists, pediatricians and pediatric surgeons.

Speakers from the USA, UK, Netherlands, Austria, and Poland took part at the Conference this year. Well-known authors of the textbook «Fetal and Neonatal Physiology» Richard Polin and William Fox (USA) participated in the event. They shared knowledge about the newest therapeutic approaches to treating neonatal lung disease.

During the meeting were discussed the topic related to hypotension in newborns and strategies for using of inotropic drugs, pulmonary hypertension and using extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in neonatology. Currently ultrasound consider as important part of intensive care in newborn for the diagnostics and treatment control. This method is recognized as highly informative, safe and fast to implement.

Workshop were devoted to modern regimens of respiratory support, ultrasound and therapeutic hypothermia during neonatal transport.

Considered issues will be incorporated into the educational process. It will help to improve the quality of care and training.
