As part of the preparation of the annual report on the research and innovation activity of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery (head of the department - Prof. Savoliuk S.), interim reporting of postgraduate students of all forms of study was conducted.

At the departmental meeting dedicated to the annual results of the planned initiative research work of Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of Shupyk NMAPE "Innovative technologies in the surgical treatment of diseases of the abdominal cavity, abdominal wall and vessels" with the duration of 2017-2021, the staff noted the activity and motivation of 4 postgraduate students of the department.

Full-time PhD student of the third year of studying Gerashchenko R. carries out the dissertation work on the topic "Endovenous electric welding in the treatment of ascending thrombophlebitis of the large subcutaneous vein" under the direction of Associate Prof. Khodos V. According to the results of the dissertation, 5 articles were published: 1 of them in the editions indexed to the Scopus scientific and metric base, 1 in the Web of Science database and 3 in the editions recommended by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine. Also were published 4 theses and 3 utility model patents.

Full-time PhD student of the second year of studying Glagolieva A. is working on dissertation "Application of automatic bioelectric welding in the treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremities" under the direction of Prof. Savoliuk S., whose goal is to improve endovenous welding technology in routine phlebology by applying an automatic mode, to minimize surgical trauma, differentiate the approach to temperature regimes and improve the safety of endovenous interventions. According to the results of the study, 1 patent for utility model was obtained, 2 articles were published in publications recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and 2 theses.

Full-time PhD student of the second year of studying Zavertylenko D. carries out the candidate's dissertation on the topic "Laparoscopic gastroplication in surgical treatment of metabolic syndrome" under the direction of Prof. Savoliuk S. The work is innovative because it involves the implementation of a protocol of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery during performing bariatric surgery with accent on prophylaxis of postoperative gastroesophageal reflux disease. According to the results of the study, 3 utility model patents have been obtained, 2 articles have been published in the publications recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 3 articles are expected to be published in sciencemetric publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science bases, 5 abstracts at scientific thematic conferences were published.

Full-time PhD student of the first year of studying plans to carry out the dissertation research under the direction of Prof. Savoliuk S. on the subject of minimally invasive surgical treatment of severe, complicated forms of varicose veins of the lower extremities, that was presented at the XIV Scientific-Practical Conference "Electric Welding and Connection of Biological Tissues: Theory, Practice, Prospects" (November 2019).

All dissertation works are carried out according to the plan, with quarterly monitoring of postgraduate students' scientific production.
