Two-week course of enhancing knowledge on the mechanical lung ventilation took place in September at the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. The topic of the course was devoted to respiratory support and treatment of severe respiratory disorders in critical ill patients, including patients with COVID-19.
The issues of clinical physiology of mechanical lung ventilation, regimes, monitoring of ventilation efficiency and monitoring of the patient's condition during ventilation were considered.
The methodology of mode selection and establishment of mechanical ventilation parameters depending on the age, pathology and condition of the patient were discussed, as well as features of respiratory support in certain conditions, when mechanical ventilation has a significant impact on the disease outcome.
Most of the material was presented on the examples of real clinical cases, which emphasizes the practical orientation of the course. According to the listeners, it was the clinical analysis that made it possible to link the acquired theoretical knowledge with their daily practice in the intensive care unit. Clinical cases of respiratory support and mechanical ventilation in patients with coronavirus COVID-19 were jf particular interest.
At the end of the course, doctors expressed their wishes and readiness to attend such courses in the future to enhance theoretical knowledge and practical training, deepen key professional competencies, as well as gain new relevant knowledge on respiratory support.
