In the recent issue of the one of the most important journals in the field of diabetology, Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, published on February, 2022, "Editorial commentary to manuscript “Neural correlates of slower gait in middle-aged persons with childhood-onset type 1 diabetes mellitus: The impact of accelerated brain aging” by Royse et al" was prepared by the Head of Department of Diabetology of Institute of Family Medicine of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Professor Boris Mankovsky. In this commentary Professor Mankovsky presented his view on the problem of accelerated brain ageing in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus and proposed the tools to examine those patients.

Nowadays the leading medical journals has the practice of publishing the editorials commentaries to the most interesting and important articles, which are going to be published in the coming issues of the journal. The Editor of the journal selects the article which is in his opinion is the most important in the issue of the journal and invites the specialist in the respective field of research to review the article itself and to provide insight into area of research generally.
