On February 11, 2022, the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Pulmonology of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine defended the dissertation of O. Bilokon, majoring in 222 "Medicine", specialty "Pediatric Surgery" on the topic: "Diagnosis and surgical treatment of lung tumors in children" (supervisor - Doctor of Medicine, Professor B. Kravchuk).
A one-time specialized academic council was established at the University DF 26.613.078 with the right to accept and consider a one-time defense of O. Bilokon's dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 Health, specialty 222 "Medicine", scientific specialty 14.01.09 "Pediatric Surgery" according to the Order MES of Ukraine № 1446 dated 28.12.2022.
The council consisted of 5 people: the chairman of the council – MD, Ph.D., Professor S. Savolyuk, reviewers - MD. Ph.D., Professor O. Gorbatyuk, MD Ph.D., Professor O. Bilyaeva, opponents - MD. Ph.D., Professor R. Vereshchako, MD, Ph.D. A. Lukashenko.
The dissertation is devoted to the problem of modern pediatric thoracic surgery and pediatric oncology, which studies the best methods of early diagnosis and development of new methods of surgical treatment of children with benign and malignant lung tumors. Based on the results of scientific work, an organ-preserving method of surgical treatment of lung tumors in children with the use of high-frequency electric welding of living tissues was proposed and proved its effectiveness.
This event is significant for the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Pulmonology. The dissertation demonstrated a high level of training and depth of scientific professional knowledge. The presented scientific work became the subject of lively discussions and debates. The applicant had a deep knowledge of the material, presented to the community at a high level the provisions of the defense, comprehensively answered the questions
Based on the results of the defense, the specialized academic council decided to award O. Bilokon the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 Health Care, specialty 222 "Medicine", scientific specialty 14.01.09 "Pediatric Surgery"
