The Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care of the P. L. Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine was established on September 3, 2012 as one of the first multidisciplinary departments in Ukraine for the training of general practitioners - family doctors. Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care from the moment of its establishment until October 25, 2021 was headed by MD, Dr. Sc., Professor Matyukha Larisa Fedorivna (1956 - 2021), student of the well-known professors I. M. Ganji and L. Ya. Babinina, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian Association of Family Medicine (2015-2021), member of the board of WONCA Europe, member EURACT. From 2022 the head of the department is MD, associate professor Olha Viktorivna Protsyuk.

Currently, the educational process of the Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care is carried out by a teaching staff consisting of 3 professors, 8 associate professors, 2 assistants, of whom 4 are doctors of science, 10 are candidates of science. Training of intern doctors and specialist doctors in the specialty "General practice - family medicine", training in thematic improvement cycles of various topics is carried out at our department.
