Kirik Dmitriy Leonidovich - doctor of medical sciences (1998), has academic degrees of associate professor (2011), professor (2018). Works as a professor of the department. He graduated with honors from the Kyiv Medical Institute (now - Bogomolets National Medical University) in 1984 (Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty). Worked as a doctor - an epidemiologist at sanitary and epidemiological institutions of the district and republican levels (1984-1991). In 1988 he defended his Ph.D. dissertation "Organization of the system of epidemiological surveillance in the area of operation of the veterinary and sanitary utilization plant" in the specialty epidemiology. In 1991-2000 he worked as a senior and leading scientific worker of the laboratory of zoonotic infections of the Kyiv Research Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases after L.V. Gromashevsky. In 1998 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Biological properties of causative agents of campylobacteriosis, peculiarities of the epidemiological process and improvement of methods of laboratory diagnostics" in the specialty microbiology and epidemiology. Since 2001 he has been working as a professor of the department.

The author of more than 100 printed scientific works, including 19  in the science-based bases SCOPUS and WEB of SCIENCE, co-author of 1 textbook, 5 manuals and 1 monograph, author of 6 patents for invention. Has trained 1 candidate of sciences. Scientific direction: clinical microbiology, molecular methods in clinical and experimental microbiology, molecular epidemiology, biosecurity. Deputy Chairman of the Academic Council of the Medical-Prophylactic and Pharmaceutical Faculty of the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (NMAPE), head of the teaching and methodical commission of the faculty. Member of the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESMID) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), expert of the European Biotechnology Council, certified biomedical specialist in biomedical laboratories (Kansas State University, BRI, USA, 2016), member of the editorial board and Reviewer of the International Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology (USA). He was awarded the medal "Participant in liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant" (1986).
