The studying at the clinic of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Shupyk NMAPE attracts young professionals, without a doubt, its innovative nature in terms of approaches and organization of scientific, educational and medical work of the department with emphasis on the introduction of modern trends and technologies in the educational and medical-diagnostic process.
The scope of priorities of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery, which are outlined in the strategy and work program of the Head of the department Professor Savoliuk S., is very wide, it covers the full range of urgent and planned surgical treatment. The wide range of possibilities include using traditional, laparoscopic , endovascular and echo-controlled navigational accesses, modern alloplasty of abdominal hernias and complex defects of the abdominal wall, minimally invasive surgery of varicose veins of the lower extremities, minimally invasive coloproctology, urgent and planned radical oncological surgery, innovative treatment methods of fistulas of the digestive tract, bariatric and metabolic operations, using principles of ERAS (Enhanced recovery after surgery) and electrosurgical technologies, including bioelectrowelding.
This is what makes the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery attractive for foreign students, even in such complex quarantine restrictions caused by the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, 4 foreign citizens are studying at the department in the clinical residency. All from Turkmenistan - Khemrayev Sharjan, Sayilov Agammamet, Seidov Kakamirat, Ovezov Toyli.
Since the beginning of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the start of quarantine, distance learning has been actively introduced, which includes conducting lectures, seminars and practical classes online on the Zoom and GoToMeeting platforms with communication in mobile messengers. The presence of a simulation class with laparoscopic simulators on the main clinical base (Kyiv city clinical hospital 8 - basic hospital for patients with COVID-19), where the departmental unit is located in a clean area, allows for classroom practice with basic skills in laparoscopy. An expansion of private and state-owned medical institutions, which in the future will become the clinical bases of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery, allowed not to stop the practical training of clinical residents of the department, who take an active part in treatment processes.
