The Congress of the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC), also known as “Euroanesthesia”, is one of the largest annual meetings for anesthesiologists, intensive care physicians, pain practitioners, and emergency medicine doctors. In 2020, Congress was held online. The delegates from more than 100 countries heard the latest news and found out innovations in the field of anesthesia, perioperative medicine, intensive care, emergency medicine, and pain management.
But it is quite problematic to watch more than 400 presentations from more than 350 speakers. Therefore, in January and February 2021, the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National University of Healthcare of Ukraine led by Professor Oleg Loskutov held an online seminar dedicated to reviewing the most relevant topics discussed during Euroanesthesia 2020.
12 lectures by the staff of the department were published daily on official online platforms. The lectures dealt with a significant range of problems: from the main aspects of pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment of COVID-19, and emergency medicine to the most modern highly specialized methods of intensive care and anesthesia in various categories of patients.
More than 51.5 thousand views indicate the relevance of the selected topics and the significant desire of doctors for continuous professional development. The convenient format and accessibility of the presentations of the seminar's content continue to attract more and more listeners (there are about 3000 new views only on the YouTube channel), despite the constant lack of free time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The audience was particularly interested in lectures on the topic of coronavirus disease by Prof. Oleg Loskutov (“COVID-19: pathophysiological aspects of therapy”), Ass. Prof. Mykhailo Bondar (“Pathophysiology and treatment of coagulation disorders in patients with COVID-19”). And the report by Ass. Prof. Inna Kuchynska “The review of European experience in treating patients with COVID-19 and own experience in managing patients with coronavirus infection” with more than 14.4 thousand views introduces not only advanced European approaches to managing patients with COVID-19 but also her own experience in intensive care of this disease in Ukrainian clinics. The presentations by professors O. Halushko and O. Druzhyna, associate professors D. Dzyuba, A. Zhezher, O. Domoratsky, Yu. Markov, S. Nedashkivskii, and M. Pylypenko were accompanied by a lively discussion and many comments.
We invite you to watch the materials of the online seminar “The review of Euroanesthesia-2020 top subjects” and other forums on the official channels of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National University of Healthcare of Ukraine:
