On the basis of the Oncology Department, which is currently headed by Professor Prokip Gordiychuk, another cycle of thematic improvement "Gynecological cancer and pregnancy: diagnosis and treatment algorithms" was held. The curator of the program was Professor of the Department Natalia Tsip, a leading researcher at the Department of Oncogynecology of the National Cancer Institute.

Diagnosing cancer during pregnancy is always a dramatic event, leading to a difficult dilemma both for the pregnant woman, her family and doctors. Despite the orphan nature of cancer during pregnancy, in recent years there has been an increase in cases of such combination. This trend is due to the older age of motherhood (22% of European women at the time of first birth are over 35 years old). It is known that the risk of developing most cancers increases with age.

While teaching the material of the course, Professor Nataliya Pavlivna paid special attention to the most difficult problem of gynecological cancer treatment in pregnant women. Due to the lack of evidence base and clear recommendations, clinicians were refusing to treat such patients for a long time and terminated the pregnancy. The initiative of the European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO) has changed the situation dramatically since 2007. The result of the society's work was the establishment of the European Network "Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy" (INCIP) in 2014. One of the areas of INCIP's work was the development of recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological cancer in pregnant women. The first international consensus meeting on the development of a protocol for the gynecological cancer treatment in pregnant women was held on July 3rd, 2008. The result of the conference was the deepening of doctors' knowledge in the field of gynecological cancer treatment in pregnant women. In total, three consensus meetings were held, the last of which took place in 2019, at which the documented condition of the mother and child and new methods of treatment were approved. Such information is needed to increase doctors' confidence in the treatment of gynecological cancer associated with pregnancy.

Colleagues of the Department of Reproductive Health and Medical Genetics of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (Minsk) have the greatest obstetric experience in the treatment of cancer in pregnant women (more than 800 cases) in the CIS. By prior arrangement, associate professor of the department, Nadiya Andreeva took part in the educational process on a cycle of thematic improvement and presented the unique experience of diagnosis and treatment of patients with malignant diseases during pregnancy gained by Belarusian colleagues. The listeners of the course had the opportunity to ask questions to which they received comprehensive answers.
