The first scientific-practical conference with international participation on vascular access took place on September 25-26 in Kyiv. The conference is included in the Register of Congresses, Symposiums, Scientific and Practical Conferences to be held in 2021.
The event was dedicated to one of the current topics of anesthesiologist's practice - ensuring vascular access. The conference was held with the participation of the established Ukrainian Association of Vascular Access. Employees of the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care took an active part in the event.
Associate Professor Liudmyla Tantsiura made reports «Verification of the central venous catheter. Review of current recommendations» and «Practice of central venous access in Ukraine». The reports provided up-to-date data and justifications on the need to monitoring the location of the central venous catheter and the current practice in Ukraine, based on anonymous survey of anesthesiologists and pediatric anesthesiologists.
Assistant Professor Iryna Kyselova was the moderator of two sections: «Vascular accesses in pediatric practice» and «Invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring». In her report «Vascular access and the human factor - how to prevent mistakes» I. Kyselova noted the importance of taking into account the human factor as a source of error, outlined the systemic approaches to be used to prevent errors and ensure patient safety.
PhD student of the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Head of the Department of Intensive Care of the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine Roman Zatsarinny has a report «Venous accesses and prevention of catheter-associated bloodstream infections». R. Zatsarinny highlighted current recommendations for the prevention of catheter-associated infections and presented his own experience.
