Oncologists and radiologists in Ukraine are looking forward to their main forum, which takes place once every five years. Despite the quarantine restrictions, the 14th Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of Ukraine was held at the Olimpiysky National Sports Complex from September 30 to October 2.
The importance of this event was that participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with modern advances in the prevention of malignant neoplasms, early diagnosis, algorithms for diagnosis and treatment, applied use of advances in the study of tumor biology, its molecular genetic component.
At the forum, along with the achievements of leading Ukrainian schools of oncology, the leading oncology institutions of the USA, Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Israel, the Netherlands and other countries of the world were presented.
Lecturers of the Department of Oncology presented their experience in the diagnosis and treatment of specific malignant neoplasms, which are leading in the structure of malignant neoplasms and especially debatable in terms of adopting tactics for their diagnosis and management.
Head of the Department of Oncology, Professor Prokip Gordiichuk was the moderator of the section "Problems and achievements of abdominal oncology". He presented a report on "Personalization of the stages of complex treatment of patients with distal colorectal cancer", which testified to the promising experience of a rational, individualized concept of complex treatment with an organic combination of basic types of antitumor treatment. There have been very active discussions on this topic in recent years.
Doctors of medical sciences, associate professors of the Department of Oncology Natalia Tsip and Kateryna Kharchenko were the moderators of the section "Modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of oncogynecological diseases". They presented four reports on the main directions of development of modern oncogynecology.
Professor of the department Bohdan Sorokin reported on the topic "Screening endoscopic studies in the diagnosis of benign and malignant neoplasms of the stomach and colon."
The experience presented by the staff of the Department of Oncology of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine showed that the department is in the trend of development and implementation of modern achievements of oncological science in diagnostic and treatment tactics of malignant neoplasms. He introduces his knowledge and achievements into the educational and methodical process of training competent specialists - oncologists, oncosurgeons, oncogynecologists, endoscopists.
