Due to the actuality of the hospice and palliative care in Ukraine the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, in 2009 the Administration and Academic Council of NMAPE resolved to create the Department of Palliative and Hospice Medicine in NMAPE (Decree No 3702).
The Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Full Professor Yurii I. Hubs’kyi was appointed the head of the Department of Palliative and Hospice Medicine.
The first graduation of the doctors of the Department of Palliative and Hospice Medicine was in September 2010.
