On March 2nd, an online meeting was held by organized by the Department of Cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine to discuss the latest medical advancements and innovative treatment methods for cardiovascular diseases in comorbid conditions. This event has become a good tradition and brings together physicians from different medical specialties aimed at updating knowledge and exchanging experience between practitioners and scientists.
The Saturday symposium began with a lecture by Anton Volosovets, MD, professor and head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine: «Optimization of statin therapy for secondary prevention of cerebral ischemia». The professor outlined the key aspects of lipid-lowering therapy, emphasizing its importance in preventing cardiovascular events.
The meeting continued with a presentation by Dr. Olena Nesukay, MD, professor and head of the Expert Consultative, Diagnostic and Treatment Center for Myocarditis and Cardiomyopathies of the State Institution «National Scientific Center «Institute of Cardiology, Clinical and Regenerative Medicine named after Academician N.D. Strazhesko», dedicated to the use of diuretics for heart failure management. The rules for prescribing diuretics for chronic heart failure were discussed in detail, as well as a comparison of furosemide with torsemide, which is the subject of recent meta-analyses and scientific studies.
Tatyana Simagina, PhD, assistant of the Department of Cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine and Maryna Dolzhenko, MD, head of the Department of Cardiology Cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine held an interesting cardiological discussion. The specialists presented a clinical case of a patient with polyorganic microvascular dysfunction. What is special about such patients, how to correctly diagnose them during initial treatment and how to help? The speakers gave detailed answers to all these questions, based on new scientific research and recommendations of international cardiological associations.
