On March 26, 2025, a meeting of the working group on the implementation of canisterapy as a method of medical and psychological rehabilitation of patients was held at the Pushcha-Vodytsia Medical Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Among the invited participants of the event was the Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Professor Volosovets A.O.
During the event, the issues of the evidence-based effectiveness of canine therapy in psychological rehabilitation, algorithms of interaction in conducting psycho-emotional support with the help of assistance dogs, as well as problematic issues arising in the process of implementing such measures were discussed.
The meeting began with a welcome speech by Lilia Boyko, Director of the Health Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The participants heard reports from Yulia Shvedenko, Head of the ICC "Pushcha-Vodytsia", Iryna Gurska, Head of the Psychological Support Division of the Social and Psychological Work Department of the Personnel Department of the National Police of Ukraine, and Svitlana Kolomiets, Head of the Department for Organization of Dog Training Activities of the National Police of Ukraine.
Professor Volosovets A.O. took an active part in the discussion and finalizing the results of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the use of canine therapy as an effective method of medical and psychological assistance.
The event was an important step in the development of medical and psychological rehabilitation and contributed to deepening cooperation between medical, psychological and law enforcement agencies to implement innovative methods of patient care.
