On September 7, the Department of Cardiology at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine organized a new Consilium for doctors from all over the country. The topics of the presentations were, as always, relevant and aimed at helping physicians address the most common problems.
The event began with an interesting dialogue between nephrologist, professor, and head of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Stela Kushnirenko, and clinical pharmacist, professor, and head of the Department of Pharmacology at Bogomolets National Medical University, Hanna Zaichenko. Their scientific discussion focused on kidney protection in patients with diabetes. The specialists emphasized to the audience that, for optimal therapeutic effect in patients with CKD, all classes of drugs prescribed for such conditions should be used concurrently.
The next report was given by leading researcher at the "National Institute of Phthisiology and Pulmonology named after F.G. Yanovsky" Yaroslav Dziublyk, with a lecture: "Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease – Wait or Act?" The presentation covered patient and treatment-related risks for COPD, key diagnostic methods, and a detailed discussion on drug therapy as outlined in the latest guidelines.
The presentation by rheumatologist and medical director of Professor Rekalov's Rheumatology Clinic, Iryna Bryner, was dedicated to the treatment of gout in comorbid patients. She discussed modern approaches to gout treatment, taking into account the safety and efficacy of medications for patients with comorbidities, in line with international guidelines.
Why can a young man have an acute myocardial infarction? How should it be properly diagnosed and treated? Is COVID-19 to blame? These questions were explored by assistant of the Department of Cardiology at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Tetiana Simahina, and professor, and head of the Department of Cardiology at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Maryna Dolzhenko.
The Consilium was filled with valuable information and received positive feedback from participants.
