According to the lesson plan, on March 5, 2025, presentation and practical skills for masters of the Faculty of Medicine on the topic "Airway and Ventilatory Management" has been done. The relevance of the lesson was that mortality due to impaired airway patency ranks 3rd after Massive Bleeding and Chest Injury.
Airway and Ventilatory Management is a component of the emergency medical care protocol for patients whose condition is recognized as urgent - ABC - Airway, B - Breathing, and C - Circulation - blood circulation and the CAB protocol - for trauma patients.
During the classes, objective signs of airway obstruction were considered, factors that indicate possible difficulties in ensuring airway patency were discussed according to the LEMON rule (Look, Evaluate, Mallampati, Obstruction, Neck Mobility) and the Mallampati classification.
During practical classes, the students practiced techniques for ensuring airway patency. Among these skills were a) chin lift, b) insertion of nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airways, c) laryngeal masks, d) coniotomy, e) tracheal intubation.
The results of the training day were assessed as positive by the students and the lecturer, Associate Professor of the Department of Disaster Medicine, O. Mazurenko.
