At the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 of the Shupyk National Healthсare University of Ukraine from January 28 to February 11, 2025, a thematic improvement cycle “Emergency care in obstetrics and gynecology with a simulation training course” (full-time and part-time with elements of distance learning) was held for doctors in the city of Cherkasy for obstetricians - gynecologists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, family doctors.
The participants of the thematic improvement cycle had the opportunity to update their knowledge on the prediction, prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage in accordance with the latest recommendations of the International Federation of Gynecologists and Obstetricians (FIGO, 2022). The simulation training plan considered specific issues of obstetric hemorrhage therapy with ligation of the main uterine vessels, internal iliac arteries, balloon tamponade of the uterus, and methods of remodeling the lower uterine segment (LUS 1,2).
The head of the department, professors and the curator of the cycle (Assoc. Prof. G.M. Zhaloba) together with the students of the cycle carefully considered the topics of emergency care in obstetrics and gynecology: providing care in case of placenta accreta, placenta previa and premature detachment, umbilical cord blood vessels, preeclampsia, diabetes mellitus and pregnancy, abnormal uterine bleeding, urgent conditions for uterine leiomyomas and endometriosis. The students had the opportunity to ask all the questions of interest to them that they encounter in daily practical work, and to receive comprehensive up-to-date information from experts.
