The thematic improvement cycle "Eye microsurgery with methods of implantation of artificial lens and phacoemulsification" is intended for training of the heads and residents of ophthalmologic departments, having experience of practical work in the specialty of not less than three years.

The purpose of the cycle is to improve theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients with glaucoma and cataracts, to increase the microsurgical qualification of surgeons, to master the methods of phacoemulsification, to study the methods of implantation of artificial lenses.

The students of the cycle will be introduced to the latest achievements of modern ophthalmology, new views on the pathogenesis of cataracts and glaucoma, new methods of early diagnosis of corneal diseases, vitreous body, glaucoma, lens, principles of pathogenetic surgical treatment, with modern indications before surgical intervention, types of microsurgical operations, and possible complications.

The training base for conducting the studies of TU "Eye microsurgery with methods of artificial lens implantation and phacoemulsification" will be used: the clinical base of the Department of Ophthalmology (Kyiv City Clinical Ophthalmological Hospital "Oka Microsurgery Center"). In the training classes of the Alcon company, equipped with modern microsurgical equipment, the WetLab course is being conducted, thus ensuring the possibility of self-mastering of surgical methods of treatment in the eyes of animals using modern equipment.

Considerable attention is paid to the methods of instrumental and differential diagnostics for the determination of indications and the choice of the most rational microsurgical treatment.

 At the end of the cycle, an exam is conducted. Students who have successfully compiled it receive a certificate of the appropriate sample.
