The research work performed by the staff members of the department is “Surgical Management for Abdominal Cavity, Abdominal Wall and Periphery Vessels Pathologies”.

The department's lines of investigation are:mini-invasive and puncture abdominal surgery; video-laparoscopic surgery; mini-invasive phlebology; pancreatology; herniology; surgical infection; cryosurgery.

The staff members of the department have published more than 200 articles, 10 monographs and 10 Patents of Ukraine.

In 2008-2013 there were defended 2 PhD and 4 Master's theses at the department.

At present 5 PhD theses and 2 Master's theses are prepared at the department.
