On October 9-12, a unique forum of obstetricians and gynecologists of the world took place in Paris, namely the XXIV Congress of FIGO (World Federation of Gynecologists and Obstetricians), which was held in the huge Paris Convention Center, in which more than 8,000 delegates from 116 countries of the world took part. FIGO has a huge authority in the world, and on certain issues prevails over WHO, because it unites specialists who study the health of mothers and children in more detail.
A delegation of doctors representing the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine took an active part in the work of the congress, who did everything to make Ukraine and the events taking place in our country heard by all congress delegates, as well as to learn about our scientific achievements, innovative methods of care pregnant women, newborns, and also heard about the war that is currently going on in Ukraine, the aggression that our people are experiencing, about the destruction of medical facilities, about the violence that is perpetrated against Ukrainian women during hostilities and about the perpetrator of this aggression and suffering, which the population of Ukraine, including women and children, suffers from the aggressor, which is the Russian Federation.
At many sectional and plenary sessions, at platforms for speeches and discussions, obstetrician-gynecologists shared their achievements, achievements, and experience, discussed problematic issues that exist in the provision of obstetric and gynecological care. Members of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine took an active part and gave reports on current issues of obstetrics and gynecology. Numerous reports of scientific and pedagogical workers and young doctors from the P.L. Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine (rector - academician of NAMNU, Prof. V'yacheslav Kaminsky) aroused interest and discussion with foreign colleagues.
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 also took an active part in the work of the Congress. Head of the department, Prof. Oleg Golyanovskiy presented the department's modern developments and achievements regarding the diagnosis and delivery of pregnant women with such a severe obstetric pathology as an abnormally invasive placenta. On the presented e-poster and flash presentation of Prof. Oleg Golyanovskiy presented ways to optimize care for this category of pregnant women and innovative developments to reduce the volume of blood loss, the optimal surgical technique, and in some cases - the preservation of the reproductive organ for this severe obstetric pathology, which carries the risk of massive profuse bleeding. The reports were positively received by foreign colleagues and caused discussion among the participants.
The result of many years of efforts of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine was that for the first time Ukraine was elected to the governing body of the Federation - the FIGO presidium, and a great friend of Ukraine, professor from Germany Frank Louwen, confidently won the FIGO presidential election. In the future, this unique event will increase Ukraine's international cooperation with colleagues from abroad, which will improve the level of medical care for Ukrainian women and children.
