The professor of the Department of General and Emergency Surgery at the National University of Health of Ukraine named after P.L. Shupyk, Doctor of Medical Sciences, prominent public figure, Professor Anatoliy Pavlovych Radzikhovsky, participated in an event that took place on October 31st at the Art Salon of Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv.

This event was organized with the support of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, the International Charitable Foundation of National Memory of Ukraine, and the leadership of Taras Shevchenko National University and was dedicated to honoring the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian poet Dmytro Pavlychko.

Dmytro Pavlychko, a Ukrainian poet, translator, literary critic, public and political figure, and one of the authors of the Act of Independence of Ukraine, a Hero of Ukraine, passed away on January 29, 2023, at the age of 93. His poetry and literary achievements have left an unforgettable mark on Ukrainian culture.

One of Dmytro Pavlychko's most famous works is the legendary poem "Two Colors," which became a true symbol of the Ukrainian national idea. The lines of this skillfully crafted verse have lived on in the memory of millions of Ukrainians for generations:

          "Two colors, my two colors,
Both on the canvas, in my soul both.
          Two colors, my two colors,
Red is love, and black is sorrow."

This poem has a unique history, as during the years of Soviet censorship, it was labeled as the "hymn of nationalists" due to the symbolic red and black colors associated with the revolutionary flag of the OUN.

Dmytro Pavlychko was also one of those who made a significant contribution to the establishment of Ukraine's independence. He authored the first sentence of the Act of Independence of Ukraine, which is a defining historical document for our state. His influence on Ukraine's foreign policy is reflected in the "Pavlychko Doctrine," which formed the basis for the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine, outlining Ukraine's desire to become a neutral and non-aligned state.

The faculty members of the department express their respect and gratitude to Professor Radzikhovsky A.P. for his active participation in honoring the memory of Dmytro Pavlychko and acknowledge the poet's significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and national independence.
