The World Health Organization (WHO) Office in Ukraine, together with MedGlobal, organized a series of trainings on the use of ultrasound diagnostics in healthcare facilities (POCUS), trauma care and emergency preparedness.

The training was aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy and emergency care skills, particularly in regions close to the war zone. This helps to strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system in a high-risk environment.

The trainings were designed for doctors who are not ultrasound specialists but work with patients in critical conditions. The use of mobile ultrasound machines allows them to quickly determine the cause of the patient's deterioration and start the necessary treatment in a timely manner, which significantly increases the chances of saving lives.

The coaching team included the Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Professor Anton Volosovets, Associate Professor Olga Kramareva and Assistant Professor Alina Boiko as representatives of our university.

“The number of portable ultrasound machines that can be used directly at the patient's bedside or at the scene of an accident remains insufficient. Today, there is a great need for such devices, as their use can save lives,” emphasized Professor Anton Volosovets.

The initiative is supported by the USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance and the Government of the Netherlands, which emphasizes the critical need for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in this difficult time.
