Learning a new language is a great way to experience another culture, boost your confidence, and increase your employability.

However, English is notoriously tricky to learn, that is why it’s important to choose the right course and learning environment. At the Department of Language Training and Humanitarian Disciplines of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, our teachers know that studying English with native English speakers can drastically improve a student’s understanding of the language. We understand that English proficiency by Ukrainian doctors and medical staff will accelerate European integration and strengthen cooperation with the international medical community in the future.

For this reason, the Department of Language Training and Humanitarian Disciplines teachers cooperate with Clive A. Simpson and Alan Tailor.

Clive A. Simpson Experienced EFL teacher, now specialising in EAP, with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education sector.  Strongly influenced by the disciplines and skills gained from earlier years in the IT industry and as a reservist.  With a BA(Hons) in Linguistics and English Language from Lancaster University. He is the member of British Association of Lecturers of English for Academic Purposes and European Association of Teachers of Academic Writing. Clive has got Certificate for English Language Teaching to Adults [UCLES CELTA] and Leeds Metropolitan University TESOL Certificate.

Alan is from England too. For most of his career he worked in finance but later in life he took a TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and worked in Ukraine and elsewhere as an English teacher for various language schools and charities. In past years he has also written articles for magazines, both online and printed, and for the local newspaper in his hometown of Aylesbury. He has also worked with companies and individuals as a proofreader - checking, editing and re-writing various texts.

Studying English at the Department of Language Training and Humanitarian Disciplines of our University gives you a lot of benefits:

  • As a learner, you can practice communication skills all the time during your classes and this will help your brain develop a habit of speaking the language most of the time.
  • Communicating with natives means attending every class in order to speak to someone who has spoken this language for years and years since childhood.
  • By being native and being in constant contact with the language, natives will speak up-to-date English and guide you in using colloquialisms.
  • Speaking a second language in front of a native speaker can certainly be nerve-wracking but it is the best way to grow confidence.
  • Studying English with native teachers is a way for people to better understand the culture, the beauty, the classic style, and the elegance of other nations around the world.

If you’re still wondering where to learn English and if there is any difference between learning English with native speakers or non-native speakers, we’re here today to help you make the right decision by giving you some of the perks of combining learning English with our highly qualified teachers and native speakers.

The teachers of our department invite you for the course «English Advanced Course for Medical Professionals» which starts on the 8th January and lasts till the 8th April.
