At the beginning of December, was an important event for the oncological community of Ukraine, a scientific and practical conference with international participation "Individualization of treatment of malignant tumors of the breast and other localizations", organized by the "National Association of Oncologists of Ukraine", the National Cancer Institute together with the KNP "Khmelnytskyi Regional Antitumor Center" , Khmelnytskyi Regional Council.
At the conference, in addition to organizational, legal and financial issues, important attention was paid to the issues of morbidity and mortality from malignant diseases, screening programs, and early diagnosis of cancer.
It was not by chance that the organizers focused attention on two malignant nosologies, namely breast tumors and colorectal cancer in Ukraine. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer GLOBOCAN 2020, in 2040, the global burden of cancer is expected to be 28.4 million cases, a 47% increase over 2020. Ukraine is represented as a state with average morbidity and high mortality in patients with breast cancer and colorectal cancer. It is these nosologies that rank first or second in the structure of morbidity and mortality in Ukraine.
Graduate students of the Department of Oncology presented their work results at the section: "Colorectal cancer. Modern aspects of diagnosis and treatment in Ukraine". Fourth-year graduate student Mykola Hordiychuk presented materials on the topic: "Oncological results of sphincter-preserving surgical interventions in the treatment of distal rectal cancer," and first-year graduate student Ihor Rud - "The latest trends in complex treatment of cancer of the right half of the colon." The reports aroused great interest, discussions, and discussions, which gave confidence to the speakers about the relevance and necessity of further development in the selected areas of dissertation research.
The organizers of the event highly appreciated the organization, scientific, debating level of the work of this section and recognized its importance for a practical doctor who provides oncological care to the population of Ukraine on a daily basis.
