On April 6, optional classes organized by the Department of Cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine took place. Doctors of various specialties gathered at the online meeting, with the participation of experts in cardiology and pulmonology.

The main goal of the event was to discuss modern approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, exchange experiences, study new medical technologies, and discuss the results of the latest research and clinical trials.

Serhii Kozhukhov, DM, Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Cardio-Oncology of the SI «NSC «Institute of Cardiology named after Academician M.D. Strazhesko» in his report: «Cardioprotective role of hydrogen sulfide - clinical significance in myocardial infarction» addressed the issue of rehabilitation of cardiological patients after a serious cardiovascular event.

Is it possible to make a diagnosis of coronary artery disease on «clean vessels?», in which cases is angiography insufficient? Answers to these questions were sought by Ph.D., assistant of the Department of Cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Tetyana Simagina, and DM, professor, head of the Department of Cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Maryna Dolzhenko.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) ranks third in the world among chronic diseases, annually leading to millions of deaths. This disease is characterized by a progressive decrease in lung function, which can lead to difficulty breathing and disability, affecting the quality of life of patients and increasing the risk of developing other diseases. Ivan Telnov, a pulmonologist of the highest category, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, talked about the arsenal of treatment options for this pathology.

And at the end of the meeting, Maryna Dolzhenko held a master class: «Primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases in a young patient. Is medical support necessary?». Risk factors and ways to modify patients' lifestyles were also discussed.

A distinctive feature of the event was the feedback from the audience, as questions from the audience were received after each presentation.
