On September 30, 2024, at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, in a one-time specialized academic council, the official defense of the dissertation of post-graduate student of the Department of cardiac surgery, X-ray Endovascular and extracorporeal technologies Mykola Stan (scientific supervisor - Professor Borys Todurov) took place.
The meeting was chaired by the head of the Department of Anesthesiology and intensive care, Professor Oleg Loskutov, with the involvement of scientific and pedagogical workers and postgraduate students of the Department of cardiac surgery, X-ray Endovascular and extracorporeal technologies; employees of the clinical base of the department - State University "Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine". The reviewers were the head of the Department of cardiology of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Professor Maryna Dolzhenko, and the head of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Professor Sergiy Savolyuk; Opponents were: the head of the Department of Cardiology, Laboratory and Functional Diagnostics of Kharkiv National University, Professor Vira Tseluyko and the head of Endovascular and Interventional radiology of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology of Ukraine - Professor Sergiy Furkalo.
The scientific work of Mykola Stan "Evaluation of the fractional reserve of blood flow to determine the tactics of revascularization interventions in patients with stable coronary heart disease" made it possible to establish that the detected intermediate stenoses of the coronary arteries require, in addition to coronary angiography, the most reliable methods of determining the hemodynamic significance of stenoses - the fractional flow reserve (FFR). In addition, a group of patients was identified in which, with the greatest probability, an improvement in quality of life can be expected after revascularization interventions.
Based on the positive reviews of the reviewers and taking into account the results of the scientific discussion, the work of postgraduate student of the department are recommended for awarding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
